Christmas Party

Last night we had our amazing Christmas celebration with our Teen Mops ladies. What a beautiful night of sharing, laughter, tears, great food and gifts. We received so many amazing donations that helped make the evening such a special time.

Kelly, from Fox River, took time with her children to make 45 comfy no-sew blankets. One for each of the little ones. This meant moms with two or three kids could take several and have a lovely keepsake--so thoughtful. Another donation came in the form of gift cards--one for each of the girls to get themselves something. A leader also donated a mug filled with candy and cocoa for each of the girls as well.

Please pray for us all as we celebrate this season. Pray that we put first things first and stay focused upward. It's so easy to get sidetracked by this world and miss the opportunity to experience the peace and stillness that Christmas could be. The Savior of the world--born as just a little baby--on a simple night, in a simple way--fulfilling His purpose to save the world.

Many blessing to you each this Christmas!

Prayer Requests

I would like to share with you all our ministry prayer requests. If you would like to be a part of our prayer team to pray over the girls and their specific requests, just email me at msmindypit@wi.rr.com. Thank you for praying with and for us!!

~Pray that the young ladies would come with open minds and hearts. They they would feel comfortable and at home with our group. Pray that the truth could convict them, but more importantly that they would see a life of freedome in Christ as attainable and long to have Him in their life.

~Pray that as leaders we would not be discouraged or disillusioned by our own agenda or our own biases. Pray that we would love, accept, guide and encourage the moms. That we would remember that while they are new, young mothers--they are also teenagers and struggling with the things that teenagers do.

~Pray for a strong team of volunteers in our childcare area. While we have a couple of very devoted ladies that we are so grateful for--there is still a need for more. It is imperative that the little ones are well cared for, prayed for and nurtured while the moms meet with us.

~We give thanks for the relationships and bonds that are already formed with the leaders and girls. We know many of these will be lifelong friendships. Pray with us for other women of God to step forward adn come and be a part of Teen MOPS. With new leadership comes rejuvenation, fresh ideas, and energized hearts.

~Finally pray that each young woman, in God's perfect timing, would come to know Christ as their Savior! Hallelujah!

How Time Flies!

Wow! I can't believe that it's November already. We had a great kick off and have seen a lot of our old attendees return, as well as some new faces. Please remember to let every young mom (13-20) know that we are here for them!!

We've had some great topics so far this fall:

One night we worked on our BHAGS (big, hairy, attainable goals!) It's been great for everyone to share what we'd like to work on, change, accomplish and conquer! Each young lady (and leader!) made a poster to represent what we are working on. It was amazing how many things in common we all had. It continues to prove the point that God is working in all of us and while it might seem that we've "made it"...there are always things that are a work in progress. Thanks Deb!!

Another fun evening came when a past leader visited to share with us cooking and shopping tips. She made a yummy dinner and dessert right in front of us and then gave the dishes away as door prizes!! For some this was a refresher, but for many it was the first time to think about things like coupons, menu planning, smart shopping... Thanks Jeanine!!

Some of our best times, however, come when we are just in spontaneous, intimate conversations with the girls. A couple of weeks ago we played a question game where we each had a card with a random question. The questions ranged from surface deep (What is your all time favorite movie?) to intense (Who has influenced you the most in life?) As we went around the table sharing our stories we laughed, got teary-eyed, and just had amazing bonding time. It's those special, unexpected moments where we often grow the closest. They remind me what an amazing family we are forming and how Jesus Christ can bridge any gap, any divide. Thanks Amy!!

I share these stories to help paint a picture of what Teen MOPS is about. I also share them because I know that many people would like to be invovled but aren't sure how. Also, there is a misconception about teen moms and what their future holds. It doesn't have to be true. Their choices aren't limited--they may just look different. Their goals don't have to be discarded--they may just have to be developed differently. Their lives don't have to be "over"--in fact this can be the catalyst that turns them to Jesus. If you feel a special tugging on your heart, please join us for a Wednesday night. You don't need to commit to anything...just come and observe, join in a conversation, enjoy a great meal. After a time or two you will know if God is calling you to this ministry.

Perhaps you do desire to help, but not necessarily as a leader. There are many wonderful ways to help us grow our ministry. Provide a meal, donate items for our MOPS Mart, donate literature for our growing library, lead a night with a special skill you may have, help drive some of our younger moms who don't have transportation, come and hold babies in our chilcare room, provide gift cards for our door prizes. Or most importantly, become a part of our growing prayer team. Each week you will be provided with our prayer needs and well as the specific prayer requests the moms share with us.

Thanks for reading and thanks for considering how you might impact this future generation for Christ!!

Summer Party!

Don't miss out!

This Saturday, July 21st, join us for a fun Teen MOPS get together at Amy's house. There'll be good food, swimming, relaxing by the pond, games and great company! Bring your kids, spouse or significant other. Tell all of your teen/young mom friends about it. It's a great time to connect after not seeing each other for much of the summer. If you need directions contact one of the leaders and we'll do our best to get you there!

First Post

Well here is our first post. I am excited at the opportunity to share with the world the exciting things that are happening at Teen MOPS in Waukesha. What I hope comes of this is a time of sharing, witness and love...just to show everyone a glimpse at what God is doing in our group.

Our 2006-2007 year just ended and we are breaking for the summer. This is both a good and sad time. For many of us, participants and leaders alike...Teen MOPS is a 2nd family. When we don't meet weekly, it is hard! A few leaders are planning to try and coordinate some gatherings--so don't miss out!! We'll also have our big picnic in July so that will be fun as well.

If you are checking us out because you have an interest in helping Teen MOPS or the young ladies who attend--we are glad you are here. Please feel free to e-mail us at teenmopswauk@hotmail.com. We would love to answer any questions that you have or tell you a little more about us!

Have a good night!
